“The guests of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, are three: The warrior, the pilgrim performing Hajj, and the pilgrim performing 'Umrah”
Prophet MuhammadﷺHajj Journey Overview
Follow the sacred steps of this blessed pilgrimage, each one bringing you closer to spiritual fulfillment
Ihram1
Enter the state of Ihram and make the intention for Hajj
Pilgrims enter the state of Ihram, signifying spiritual purity. Men wear two unstitched white garments, and women dress modestly according to Shariah. This step begins with making the Niyyah (intention) for Hajj and reciting the Talbiyah: *'Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk...'* symbolizing submission to Allah.
2Mina
Travel to Mina and spend the day in worship
Pilgrims proceed to Mina, a valley near Makkah, where they spend the day in Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), Du'a (supplication), and Salah (prayer). This marks the beginning of the Hajj rituals.
Arafah3
Wuquf (stand) at Arafah from Dhuhr to Maghrib in devotion
The Day of Arafah is the climax of Hajj. Pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafah, near Jabal Al-Rahmah (Mount of Mercy), to make heartfelt Du'as and seek Allah's forgiveness. This act represents standing before Allah on the Day of Judgment.
4Muzdalifah
Spend the night under the open sky and collect pebbles
After sunset, pilgrims journey to Muzdalifah, where they perform Maghrib and Isha prayers combined (Qasr). They spend the night in contemplation, under the open sky, and gather pebbles for the Rami (stoning) ritual.
Rami Al-Jamarat5
Stone the Jamarat as a symbol of rejecting Shaytan
Pilgrims return to Mina and perform Rami by throwing seven pebbles at the largest Jamarah (pillar) on the Day of Eid. This act emulates Prophet Ibrahim's defiance of Shaytan's temptations.
6Udhiya/Qurbani
Offer the ritual sacrifice on the Day of Eid
Pilgrims perform the Udhiya (sacrifice) of a sheep, goat, or camel, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for Allah’s command. The meat is distributed to the poor and needy as an act of charity.
Tawaf Al-Ifadah7
Perform the Tawaf around the Kaaba in Makkah
Pilgrims return to Masjid Al-Haram to perform Tawaf Al-Ifadah, circling the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction.
8Sa'i
Perform Sa'i between the hills of Safa and Marwah
Pilgrims perform Sa'i, walking or running between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times. This ritual commemorates the patience and trust of Hajar (peace be upon her) in her search for water for her son Ismail, leading to the blessing of Zamzam water.
Ayyam Al-Tashreeq9
Spend the final days in Mina for worship and stoning
Pilgrims remain in Mina during the three days of Ayyam Al-Tashreeq, continuing Rami by stoning all three Jamarat each day. These days are filled with Dhikr, reflection, and gratitude to Allah.
10Tawaf Al-Wida
Perform the Farewell Tawaf before leaving Makkah
Before leaving Makkah, pilgrims perform Tawaf Al-Wida, circling the Kaaba seven times as a final act of worship. This signifies bidding farewell to the Sacred House of Allah with hope for acceptance of the Hajj.
